Montrose Basin and Arbroath Harbour

I visited Montrose Basin yet again as it's one of the few places where birds can consistently find food. There was frost on the ground and the puddles were frozen and there was a distinct lack of songbirds.
The series of photos below were taken mostly from the Shellduck Hide from about 1400 till 1530 when the sun was getting low and the light very interesting giving bleached or red photos depending on the direction they were taken.
There were Pink Footed Geese, Goldeneye Duck, Teal, Red-breasted Mergansers, Mute and Whooper Swans, Mallard, Little Grebe and a single Greenshank.
Note, I'd been trying out a Sony Telephoto Lens on my Lumix camera and have decided it doesn't work unless the light is perfect, so it's in the box till summer when I'll try again.

The other Sunset photos were taken at Arbroath and Arbroath Harbour, not the best sunset I've seen but made more interesting with kayakers in the foreground.
