Balgavies Loch Woodpecker

If you can't be good be lucky. I was a little late in pressing the shutter and caught this male Great Spotted Woodpecker taking off backwards but still managing to swivel his head around 180 degrees to see where he's going, all with his peanut safe in his beak.

Same bird warily stalking the feeder.

Balgavies Loch Hide, Vole and Jay

Field Vole I think, running from a small hole in the snow at the foot of the dead plant to get a peanut dropped by the birds.

This Jay was very wary and didn't stop to eat, I think the feeders aren't being kept topped up and the lack of food and people being about has made the birds more cagey.
