This is a Large Red Damselfly and a male in Teneral, that is the period after emerging when it is still hardening its exo-skeleton and reaching it's final colours, the thorax and eyes will change to red in this case.

Shelduck Hide Montrose Basin, Large Red Damselfly
A short walk to the Shelduck Hide today and we found, Roe Deer, Sedge Warbler, Reed Bunting, Mute Swans, Skylarks, Meadow pipits, Linnets, Song Thrush, Dunnock, Blackbirds, Eider, Goosander, Merganser, Redshank and best of all our first Damselfly of the year.
