Craigmill Den, Barry Mill, Carnoustie Golf Links and Easthaven Beach

The Little Grebes were on Carnoustie Golf Links along with the Skylark and Damselfly. Craigmill Den had Whitethroats and a Blackcap singing and two Grey Wagtail chicks being fed by Mum. On my way to Carnoustie Golf Links I stopped at Barry Mill where a pair of Stock Doves posed and finally there were 4 Whimbrel c40 Ringed Plover, 6 Dunlin, 13 Bar-tailed Godwits, Curlews, Shelducks and a single Redshank on the beach near Craigmill Burn.

First Green Hairstreak Butterfly I've seen ever and I can't wait for a sunny day to see how good a photo I can get of the Terns compared to these taken in the cold and gloom at Montrose today. The others are from various places on different days recently.

Goshawk and Peregrine, I'd be delighted to see either, more so if they were at the same site and even more if I saw a Buzzard and Red Kite there too. All in the same vicinity within 10 minutes of each other but that's all I can divulge for Schedule 1 birds.

Deeside area on Saturday

I strayed into Deeside for a few hours on Saturday looking for Whinchats which I'd seen in the area last year but they'd been replaced by Stonechats but it was good to see a pair had already fledged a brood. It was good to see a number of Lapwings and Curlews along with a good number of Meadow Pipits and Wheatear and a single Raven. The Red Kite ranged over a large area while I was there and was seen with a Buzzard and again with a Kestrel.

Tales from an Angus Glen

A few of the locals in an Angus Glen and one in particular was a surprise to me, the Long-tailed Tit which I'd never seen so far into the hills before. We sat and watched the Ring Ouzel female collecting food for some time before she eventually saw us hiding in the rocks. Also seen on a few occasions this week were Curlews chasing in this case a Buzzard, another a Crow and on a third trip a Raven.
