Another trip to the River Don at Seaton Park to see the evolving plumage of the Harlequin Drake, slowly but surely developing its adult breeding plumage. Although I didn't get a photo of the bird out of the water it apparently now has the red marking and the grey I could see is becoming more pronounced. While searching the river for the Harlequin the juvenile Iceland Gull below flew through my binoculars view and I even got some photos of that, albeit into the strong sun hence the flaring on its back.
Elsewhere on our way to Aberdeen just two miles from Arbroath a Green Sandpiper was briefly in a stubble field puddle before a big noisy tractor spooked it. I doubt I'd have got close enough for a photo and was watching the bird from a distance through my scope.
