Craigmill Beach, Easthaven

Looking for an elusive Med Gull near Easthaven, all I could find were these guys, two Dunlin, a Tree Sparrow and 49 Turnstones

From an Angus Glen!

A couple of photos from an Angus Glen where I saw, Golden Eagles, Peregrine, Kestrel, Ravens, Grey Wagtail and lots of Mistle and Song Thrushes.

Golden Eagles from about half a mile, the clip grabbed from a video and a Mistle Thrush singing near the car.

Corbie Knowe, Lunan Bay, Angus

A walk along Lunan Bay from Red Castle to Corbie Knowe turned up Long-tailed Ducks, around 300 Common Gulls, Oystercatchers, Curlew, Kestrel, Buzzard, 8 Sanderlings, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers and 11 Common Scoters.

The Common Scoter below looks to be a 1st winter male and the Long-tailed Duck perhaps the same, they have 3 moults a year! The Scoter was unusually close in.

Lesser Black-backed Gull, Stobsmuir, Dundee

Just the second Lesser Black-backed Gull I've seen this year when looking for a Mediterranean Gull reported at Stobsmuir Ponds in Dundee. The Iceland Gull was still there and the Med Gull turned up an hour after I left!

Auchmithie, sunny and a swell

The sun came out for about an hour so I went out to Auchmithie to see the Fulmars, the two in the photo were trying to get rid of the interloper but he was persistent.

Chiffchaff, Common Seal, Sanderling and Whoopers in a fly by

The first photo was a surprise to me, a Chiffchaff in February and below that a Common Seal youngster on the beach at Lunan Bay along with a Sanderling. The last photo is some of a group of Whooper Swans flying across Montrose Basin.

Common Seal video I wasn't the one scaring it!

Harbour Porpoise in Arbroath Harbour

The first time I've ever seen a Harbour Porpoise in the outer harbour at Arbroath. It's possible the animal was injured or weak and a mark on its flank looks like it could be a propeller injury, lets hope nothing is actually wrong with it. I'll have a look again on Monday.

Photo taken at sunset and enhanced to reveal the mark on its side, this only shows half of the Porpoise from head to dorsal fin.

Webs Count at Easthaven, also St Vigeans and Stobsmuir Ponds Dundee

Photos from Stobsmuir Ponds in Dundee, St Vigeans NT, Easthaven and Monikie Country Park. Others below, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Stock Dove, Stonechat, Sheep and one of the radio controlled planes scaring the birds at Monikie!

Back at Monikie a different view

I just managed to get to Monikie today before all the light went and the rain started and the Great Northern Diver was still about but feeding all over the Island Pond. This photo makes it look like a different bird from those previous photos, I think I caught it winding up to dive. The Kingfisher has been around a long time but today was the first time it settled in view, though a fair bit off.

Whoopers and Long-tailed Ducks

Despite the stormy winds blowing across Montrose Basin there were still a few birds about including these Long-tailed Ducks, 43 Whooper Swans and a Common Seal. Photos achieved despite the gales and no time for crops or edits.

Great Northern Diver - Monikie Country Park

A reasonably rare visitor to Scotland's east coast and even less likely to be found inland, this one was at Monikie Country Park. Also below a Turnstone at Monifieth and an Eider female at Carnoustie where Common Scoter were close to the beach.
