Forfar Loch, Murton, Balgavies and the Basin as usual............

Reports of a Black Tern, American Wigeon, Slavonian Grebe and a Scaup at Loch Leven suggested to me a movement of winter ducks so I checked out Forfar Loch, Murton and Balgavies and never found any! The Little Grebes at Forfar have had a good season and I counted 38 birds and that probably wasn't all of them. Murton has a large flock of Lapwings and Balgavies was quiet so I moved on to Montrose Basin.

Black-tailed Godwits hiding behind one the boats at the sailing club, Forfar Loch

A Blue Tit close to me on the viewing platform at the east end of the loch

One of the newly ringed Greenshanks at Montrose Basin. I reported an earlier Greenshank at the Ythan estuary with same combination but on the opposite legs

Same Greenshank

One of a number of Redshanks with a shiny new metal ring

Four of these Redshanks have metal rings as did many of the group this crop was taken from. They were being kept moving by a young Peregrine which seems to appear as the tide receeds
