Godwits and Gannets

Some photos from Arbroath, Montrose and Kinnaber taken this week with a couple of previous photos added for comparison.

NEW: RSPB Raptor Persecution Map Hub, click here  links to the RSPB announcement with a link to the map in the second paragraph ( the link didn't work here! )

Bar-tailed |Godwits on the beach at Kinnaber Links, only my second sighting of these returning waders so far

One of the earlier Black-tailed Godwits at the Lurgies

One of the current Black-tailed Godwits or perhaps the same one fading quickly

More Gannets being seen this week and sometimes closer in at Scurdie Ness

The Arbroath Mediterranean Gull photographed on 14/8/2018. Photographed near dusk

The same gull back seen on 24/7/2018. Ok I can't prove it's the same one, but there's never been a sighting of two adults together yet! Photographed near midday in bright sun

Oystercatcher up to its chin in mud, Lurgies

Painted Lady at Kinnaber Links

Red-throated Diver just off the beach at Kinnaber, one of at least six

It's a hard life being a Woodpigeon it appears

Lots of Great Black-backed Gulls at Kinnaber, mostly roosting at the mouth of the North Esk. Still the Skuas haven't turned up in any numbers

Guillemot adult with junior, photographed at Scurdie Ness

Common Tern also at Scurdie

The only Curlew at the Lurgies yesterday, I'd recorded 162 on my Webs at Easthaven on Saturday

Common Field Grasshopper on the path at Kinnaber Links

Around 300 Canada Geese at St Cyrus and probably nearer 400 at Montrose Basin although some could be the same birds an hour or so apart
