Black Redstart, Inchcape Park, Arbroath

A few more before Christmas when I suppose I'll have to get Merry!

Black Redstart on the beach at Inchcape Park, Arbroath. Photo taken after the sun had set at 1525, I managed to get this with a 1/100 at F4 and iso 900. Holding the heavy lens still is my biggest issue, and I'm not getting any younger. I couldn't use a tripod from my position amongst the rock armour and basically I'm too lazy to carry it most of the time!

What to do while waiting for a Glaucous or Iceland Gull to fly in, practice getting photos on the Herring Gulls

This one flew to the fish curers building where all of the gulls are attracted and it's likely that's why the Glaucous Gulls I've seen in the past hang around when they do appear

These two Redshanks are the same bird, just shows how light can make such a difference to results. This one was under the sea wall, the one below clearly in the sunlight

At high tide there were few places for the Rock Pipits to go and six were squabbling over a small section of rock armour

A fair bit of variation in the Rock Pipits I'm seeing just now, I think I'll go check the differences between the UK and Scandinavian variants
