Keptie Pond (for some shelter)

Gulls again, along with Moorhens and a Mute Swan. Also around at Keptie Pond were, Coots, Tufted Duck, Mallard, Collared Dove, Stock Dove, Woodpigeon, Jackdaw, Greenfinch, Grey Heron, Song Thrush, Blackbird and House Sparrows. No Goosanders which was why I was there!

An article in the Scotsman Newspaper this Friday, "outlining why grouse shooting is bad for the Scottish countryside". Two links below in case the first is replaced. Interesting to read the part regarding Mountain Hares, "The Scottish Government, at the highest level, has made it clear that it finds this annual killing repugnant and that it intends to stop it". I look forward to seeing this happen soon.

Adult Black-headed Gull, one of around 30 including some immature

It's not got the black hood yet, most are still like this. There was one bird I posted about that had a black head in January

The bird above

Three Lesser Black-backed Gulls today, this looked like a definite pair. They are still wary at this time of year but will become less cautious as the season progresses

With not much going on I amused myself watching and taking photos of the Moorhens

I was sitting and waiting for the Lesser Black-backs return and this head popped up in front of me. This could be a photo that won't be achieved in future if the new well and pump brings the water level up. When I asked if they had a target date, George Park said two years ago!
