Ringed Plovers in decline

Jist a few in the noo!

I think this one is from 27/11/2020, it was about to be deleted when I found it on the card I was using for a camera firmware update. I've seen the Great Egret since and might again as I've been told I need to chauffeur someone to Montrose this week

These wee characters (Ringed Plovers) flew on to the beach at Inchcape Park last week when I was looking for an Iceland Gull. I read yesterday how their numbers are still falling, they're red-listed. A study has shown that walkers and walkers with dogs on leads have a small effect on breeding success, but free-running dogs can reduce success by 90%. It's only a matter of time before conservationists will have to call for total beach closures during breeding if we are to keep these and other shoreline nesting birds

I watched this Pied Wagtail feeding almost at my feet, and was amazed at just how many things it picked up and ate
