Songbirds - a second look (part 2)

Yes, it's another second look at my old photos and this time it took an age to look through them and decide what was worthy of inclusion. Today it's basically songbirds from a folder named Small Birds and this is the second of four posts which I'll need to cover 111 photos. Some species have both male and female photos where appropriate and if I had photos.

Great Spotted Woodpecker, Montreathmont Forest

Great Tit

Greenfinch, becoming a rarer sighting, this one was out Ethie way. I did count 9 in my garden today however

Grey Wagtail on a rock in the North Esk in Glenesk

This pair were on the South Esk at Powmouth, very acrobatic lovers!

I spent a cold morning at Scone Palace some years ago before finding a single Hawfinch just before I left to get a heat

The Hoopoe which visited Montrose Basin a few years ago, which was first reported on a Facebook page before being confirmed by Ron

Same Hoopoe

Although aware of people walking by, it was comfortable enough to sit in a tiny bit of scrub and long grass

A very recently fledged House Martin not far from the nest. Later I watched this one and another returning to the safety of the nest

House building material collection in the car park at St Cyrus NNR

House Sparrow female

The obligatory Kingfisher photo taken at Montrose SWT Centre, from the Bank of Scotland Hide in the rain

One winter this male Kingfisher and his mate spent a lot of time at the outlet burn of Forfar Loch and became a bit accustomed to people passing by

Lesser Redpoll at Balgavies Loch Hide

Lesser Redpoll, likely in Montreathmont

Lesser Whitethroat at Castlesea Gulley near Auchmithie, it was a new early arrival record for Angus

Lesser Whitethroat

Linnet

Fledgling Linnet being fed near Ferryden

Long-tailed Tit in Montreathmont Forest

A spring Meadow Pipit on the track to Scurdie Ness, Ferryden
