Osprey and "Canis Stercus" - talking shi*e

Blog set up for a PC monitor of 1920 pixels, to get the best view on a phone or tablet rotate it to landscape.

My once a year visit to the local Ospreys, I prefer to see them when they're fishing, and young birds in late summer provide good entertainment and opportunities at Montrose Basin where many fish.

Osprey at Balgavies Loch, photographed from the path at 200 metres away and not the water's edge where some inconsiderate snappers were set up. In previous years I've seen the Ospreys get agitated when people were deemed to be too close by the birds, especially when they had eggs or chicks in the nest

New species of tree already bearing fruit at Balgavies, no English name, Canis Stercus in Latin

Kittiwake near Castlesea Bay, Auchmithie

I just love male Greenfinches in their best breeding plumage

This was the water tray first thing on Saturday after the hose hadn't been fully closed and it had sprayed a fine mist onto the grass which froze. Currently on Saturday evening I have an inch of wet snow in the garden
