Kinnaber Links - Ringed Plover and Sanderlings

From the top down, I was at Kinnaber Links on Friday looking for Skuas, none again so I managed some entertainment with the Sanderlings and Ringed Plover. The other photos below are from Rossie Spit on two different days, the Sparrowhawk didn't show today after I went back prepared for another but better photo.

I've video I think to add.......

Juvenile Ringed Plover with attitude. They seem to have had a good breeding season

It's great to get good photos, and I don't like ditching any, but I had to today after this bird co-operated at Kinnaber Links. Now to get all of the sand out of my hair, clothes and gear!

Great little birds these Sanderling, if they would just stay still to let me get the perfect photo

This one still with some breeding plumage growing out fast though

Probably seven Red-throated Divers at Kinnaber Links on Friday, all as far out as this one

This Sparrowhawk flew from very near to where I was sitting, flushed all of the waders then seemed to disappear. then I caught it as it came back towards me, very low across the spit. Needless to say I had the camera set up for waders on the grass

You can see the poor Dunlin's profile in this one, it was probably still alive

No terns today so it was down to Black-headed Gulls to do some fishing

Becoming a rare sight, can you remember when Rabbits were everywhere, I can, especially in the glens where I seldom see any now

Dunlin and Knot

Oystercatchers

Grey Heron at Rossie Spit in a strange shaft of light shining through a gap in the undergrowth

About time someone photographed Woodpigeons

Blackbird juvenile, a visitor from another garden, I believe the cats got all of the young Blackbirds of two broods in mine. I don't blame the cats, it's the evil cat owners. Do you think they know that cats kill 120 million small animals each year in the UK!!

The result of seed spilt by the House Sparrows in my garden
