Two mud sifters and the rest fish eaters - Montrose area

Lurgies again and Fishtown of Usan but not much going on, some late breeding birds some non breeding and some just too young.

  1. Any other photos of that Red Throated Diver, Alex? Looking at where that feather is sticking up, it isn't totally inconceivable that it could be 'Dave' ex-of City Quay, Dundee. Each year, the primaries have been slightly 'fuller' than the previous, so maybe, just maybe, that could be him. The stage of plumage in your photo would also tally more or less with where I would expect it to be in late May/Easrly June, based on previous years (he tended to be quite late into full plumage). Also given his inability to fly he would be likely to be at the mercy of the tides and could be expected to still be relatively local, rather than on a highland lochan where he'd hope to be.
