Chiffchaff and Common Lizard

I thought I'd stumble on a Chiffchaff eventually, and did at Montreathmont. The day's big surprise was seeing a Common Lizard scuttle across the track. It wasn't a warm day but the sun was shining on the track so it's likely it was sunning itself and ran into cover where the photo below was taken. I think this is the earliest I've seen a lizard. I've posted a better photo of another from Clova.

Same Chiffchaff

I'd never seen a Common Lizard in Montreathmont, a place I've been visiting for around 30 years. Maybe just not paying attention! Mind you during the first 25 years I'd have been on a mountain bike

The earliest one I can recall, this one was near Loch Esk in Clova on 23/4/2015 at around 710 metres. Photo taken with a Canon SX50 left-handed!

One of a pair of Shelduck that look to be choosing Murton as a place to nest

The Green Sandpiper is still around, but for how long now? I didn't see two together but did see one on each of the main ponds

I'm still getting Greenfinches in my back and front garden. Someone asked the secret to get the variety of birds I do. I suppose the answer is live near the countryside, don't have a tidy garden and spend a fortune on bird seed
