Green Sandpiper at Murton in July!

Murton Farm Nature Reserve today and it was hot and sticky with most wildlife hiding somehwere in the shade. Also a couple from Glen Dye where we took grandkids to look for Adders, none seen though.

The new viewpoint already partly obscured by long grass!

Is this a returning Green Sandpiper at Murton or did it stay? I saw two quite late in the spring together and wondered if they'd breed locally, unlikely but I can hope

Sand Martin, nesting in the concrete wall, the wooden walls haven't been repaired or re-built despite the money being raised specifically for that

I've tried before to get a decent Rook photo and this one obliged by sitting on the car park fence

Lots of Common Blue Damselflies today, all males though, and no signs of any Dragonflies yet

A Shaded Broad Bar, thanks for ID go to Barry, aka Stonefaction

Olive reckons this is Maiden Pink and I'm inclined to believe that
