A long walk today along the coast north of Arbroath where I saw my first Wheatears of the season, two different birds and despite the brightness of the first one below, both were males. The sun was shining directly on the bird which was sitting on some white painted rubble.
Also seen, a Corn Bunting on one of the territories on the farm I survey, and three species of butterflies.
Just as we were leaving to go out a pair of House Martins were flying around the houses near mine where they nest.
