Desert Wheatear, Montrose 17/11/2014

On a very dull, windy and rainy day on the shore of the South Esk near Glaxo in Montrose I was surprised but delighted to see that the Desert Wheatear seen on Sunday was still around on the narrow strip of beach between the high tide and dunes. A North African bird, this one has clearly strayed or has been blown very far from home. This is only the second recording of a Desert Wheatear in Angus, the last in 1887 was shot at Arbroath Cliffs in 1887!!
