King Eider from Newburgh, Aberdeenshire.

King Eider Drake at the Inches, Newburgh, Aberdeenshire and some of 43 Whimbrels which flew in to the Snub upstream of the road bridge over the Ythan on Monday 4/5/2015. The King Eider appeared around 1-2 hours after low tide as the tide was filling the estuary again. There were many hundreds of Terns in the distance at the closed area of the Ternery with Sandwich, Common and maybe Little Terns.

Video links below filmed at 100 times zoom so best if HD settings selected in YouTube,

Comparison with Common Eider

The Whimbrels were just a bit too far away combined with the sun hiding, using the Canon SX50
