Knot a lot about

Some in my preference order from Annat Bank, Montrose Beach, the Lurgies, Glen Dye, Danger Point, Arbroath (Old Brewhouse area) and our gardens. The warm and humid weather seems to have stopped much of the movement of migrants, I hope they don't all rush through when the weather breaks. The lack of butterflies in any numbers continues but my buddleia bushes have attracted a few Red Admirals and a couple of Peacock.

Knot still showing a little peach/orange colouring. At Annat Bank on the beach at Montrose

Just before they flew up towards the Basin as the tide rose

Sedge Warbler sitting on Glaxo's fence

Whitethroat very near to the Sedge Warbler

Cormorant flying off when a group of walkers got too close at Montrose Basin

Red Grouse in Glen Dye, on the low ground away from the guns up the hill who didn't seem to be shooting at much. Maybe their thoughts were on the roast beef and red wine waiting at the shieling cottage

One of three remaining Wheatear along the track, a few Meadow Pipits also around

Mediterranean Gull flying past the Old Brewhouse in Arbroath where I was waiting for my white pudding supper which turned into a sausage on the way from the chipper!!

Eider duck shaking a small crab to break off its second claw before eating it. Made me hungry enough to eat the sausage supper

Red Admiral in my garden, photographed through the double glazing

Olive's pet garden snail
