Wood Sandpiper, distant Garganey and horse eating harriers..........

My almost annual visit to Strathbeg and a few from around Angus including a rare view of a Wood Sandpiper in the open and the sun. Nothing special at Strathbeg, all of the rare birds had gone on holiday. I should say though that the Little Gulls, two adults which bred at Strathbeg in 2016 are back in position in front of the centre and hopes are high they will manage to fledge another brood this year.

Wood Sandpiper on the bog bean in front of the Gullery Hide at Kinnordy, there had been a second one earlier in the morning

The now famous Little Gulls which bred at Loch of Strathbeg last year, the first record of this species breeding in mainland Britain. There was juvenile with them briefly in the morning

At Kinnordy the Marsh Harriers are seen preying on small birds and frogs, up north at Strathbeg they appear to choose small foals!!
