Creepers, Peckers, Tits and Squirrels

Winter and early spring is a good time to find a Treecreeper, they're working hard to feed, and there's no leaves to block your view of them. Reasonable high ISO photos for the conditions, just wish I hadn't had a teleconverter attached and no bag to store it!

Long-tailed Tit, one of seven seen

The first time for a while that I've seen a Red Squirrel in the forest. I thought they'd moved away or been predated

First photos from a new Trail camera, I just need a night without rain and dry air to try out the video

One of two "foxy ladies" I see around here!

You can see an old egg left out, it will pick it up and retreat into the darkness to eat it

I can always tell when it's getting hard for my garden birds when they let me take photos as I get out of the car just metres away

This crazy world, where some "humans" rear over 60 million birds, release them while still tame and stupid, and charge other "humans" a fortune to blast them out of the sky. Note, only after they've been chased into the sky as they're too daft to take flight on their own. Photo courtesy of a Scottish gamekeeper

Sea Birds and Terns - a second look

Bored by the lockdown and the weather, and with new editing software and a better understanding of how to use it, I've tried to sort damage done in the past to photos in my "Sea birds and Terns" folder. I think much of it was due to the settings of my graphics card and monitor. Photos are from various cameras progressing through the years.

Sea birds and Terns, mostly only seen during the Scottish summer when they travel here to breed. They are posted in alphabetical order with limited explanation unless there is something of interest.

Common Tern courtship

This photo was taken into mist and shows a pair of Common Terns with the previous years youngster, apparently it's rare for that age group to migrate north during its second calendar year

Gannet, Scurdie Ness

I never knew of the white lines running down the legs before seeing this better photo

Juvenile Gannet learning how to fish at Scurdie Ness. Another young one was trying to dive from sitting on the sea but was too buoyant

Guillemot

Bridled Guillemot, around 10% have the bridle which increases in the more northerly birds

This Guillemot was in Arbroath Harbour mouth on May 9th and shouldn't be in this plumage an old sage told me

It looks like it's toying with the small flounder
