Waxwings, Waders and Woeful Defra

With Avian Flu circulating around the planet, is Defra behaving as the government did at the start of Covid? Do they have a coherent policy? Reminds me of GP's advice in the 60's and 70's "keep it till it gets better" and "it's going about"

RSPB's 2021 Birdcrime Report and Appendices 70 years after it was made illegal to persecute birds of prey, it goes on

Better news from Montrose and surely more Waxwings yet to come. The Wader video below from Rossie Spit shows their reaction to someone walking near to the spit. Later a Peregrine caused the same panic and birds dispersed widely across the east end of the Basin, they did return gradually. The Peregrine failed, this time!

One of the 45 Waxwings that were at Lower Craigo Street in Montrose this week. Today the berries are likely to be depleted but there are still lots at Newhame Road

This one was flying around at Newhame Road
