A Strong Wind and Heat Haze Made for Difficult Photography (title by Bard!)

This is a patched together post with a mix of birds, butterflies and bees. Although there appeared to be waders flying around at East Haven, the high tide and large numbers of people kept them away from their roosts.
The alternative was to photograph butterflies which wasn't easy in the strong wind, most were down in the grass keeping a low profile.

One adult Mediterranean Gull was on Chalmers roof at West Links, Arbroath, it proved difficult to film with a heat haze coming up from the roof it was sitting on.

Arctic Tern juvenile at East Haven

Sandwich Tern juvenile

Virtually no waders on the the beach, and I'm surprised that people are still letting dogs run free on a beach where over 100 dead gulls, terns and guillemots lie decaying, most likely from avian flu. (numbers from a report between East Haven and Elliot)

Curlew

Starling

The last Swift I've seen this season which was flying around my street last week

Back at East Haven in conditions too windy for insect photography, Meadow Brown Butterfly

Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly

Small White Butterfly, the same species which have now arrived in my garden

Common Carder Bee

Red-tailed Bumblebee

I'm getting occasional visits of Collared Doves in my garden, only in the evenings and usually brief

This ringed Racing Pigeon has been around for nearly six weeks and is still just as wary as when it first arrived. Usually they are quite tame and may even come to feed from your hand
