On one of my short visits to Keptie Pond in Arbroath, I saw 2 Goldcrests, 20+ Goldfinches, at least 2 but likely more Redwings, 1 Goosander, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Herons and an increase in Blackbirds.
Later that day 12/10/2023, I found 26 Redwings at Riverside Nature Park in Dundee, and I foolishly tried out the Merlin apps sound function which listens, records and identifies bird songs and calls. I said foolishly because a busy road is on one side, Dundee Airport's runway on the other, and heavy machinery working in the recycling area. The app did pick up and ID most birds, but it struggled when the ambient noise was too loud. It worked well in a quiet forest last week.
A Redwing, still a few at Keptie Pond, seen on one of my time filler visits!
I've never seen the Feral Pigeons do this at Keptie before and as you see it wasn't just one standing on a submerged rock
A Coot. Great light for my brief visit and a clear blue sky reflected in the water
I was moving back from this Black-headed Gull to get its full reflection in the water when it flew off to get fed at the other side of the pond
This hybrid has always had a strange eye and I suspect it might be blind in it, or even it's missing
This Magpie has been at my fat ball feeder in my garden, and I'm sure it was waiting for me to leave to get back to it
