Montreathmont Forest - soundtrack courtesy of the RAF

For me, it was a rare visit to Montreathmont Forest in summer, is it summer? Add to the cold and wind, the RAF with almost constant flypasts.

The Merlin app on my phone picked up birds in a few places, and for a third time at different sites it decided a calling Chiffchaff (not song) was a Common Redstart, if only.

Only one bird photographed and a few insects. I did see what was likely to be a Small Pearl Bordered Butterfly, but on the very overgrown track it simply disappeared. Insect photos ID from ObsIdentify app, not all 100% certain.
