Insects. Most were in a patch of cultivated Yarrow, and all in my garden, and some of them are first sightings this year, the Batman Hoverfly is my current favourite! The Small White Butterflies were still egg laying on the nasturtiums, Peacocks and Large Whites were feeding on the buddleia, no Red Admirals were seen in a strong wind with intermittent sunny spells. Insect ID is a best effort, without examining every angle and detail.
The House Sparrows and some Starlings are still around, but no other garden birds, and Olive hasn't seen her August Robin yet. While I was there, two separate Sparrowhawks passed over, neither lost height as if to hunt.
