Rainy day Kingfisher, and Little Egret

I gave up on "outdoor" birding today, it wasn't the cold, the wind, the rain, it was all of them combined. The default rain hide is the Bank of Scotland Hide at Montrose SWT Centre and despite the gloomy conditions some increases in the exposure settings and with close proximity some photos were achieved. I hope the Kingfisher stays long enough for a good day to see how much better I can manage.
Perhaps today the cold was making fishing for the Kingfisher more difficult as she spent a lot of time moving around all of the pools on the salt pans, often hovering before diving in. I didn't see her with any sticklebacks and wonder how much nutrition is in the pale shrimps she was eating. Other questions have to be how much longer she'll stay, where's the male and will she leave to find another to breed with.

Little Egret photo bombed by the Kingfisher. It seems that the Egret isn't too keen on the Kingfisher and is displacing it on purpose, both seemed to find the fishing less productive today

With a large male Stickleback

Didn't think it would go down easily, looks like the Stickleback is stuck on its tongue

Best take it to the bank and kill it

Job done and down the hatch
