Back to my roots

Back to my roots, click here  Born and bred at "the fit o' thi toon" and I return often in winter.....

Another harbour area visit or two due to weather and other commitments. The first photos of a Med Gull adult are the first I've taken of the species at this time of year. I can recall some 1st winters and 2nd winters but never an adult that hung around, and despite the recent weather.
Photos taken with both my cameras, you should be able to tell which shots were on which camera, all video on the P1000, one from Montrose Beach in the rain when Long-tailed Ducks, Common Scoters and more were closer in than usual.

Grey Heron fishing, Brewhouse      Grey Heron 2      Grey Heron 3

Rock Pipit (pseudo wader)      AH1 to the rescue

Mediterranean Gull adult, very close to the old sewage pipe out from the Old Brewhouse in Arbroath

Just couldn't get the Black-headed Gull to pose for a comparison photo

Little Grebe in the Marina, this photo in the shade between a boat and the quayside

The same Grebe but further away in the little light there was on another poor day

Great Black-backed Gull, waiting for some old lobster pot bait or anything else from the fishermen

I wonder if this is the same Heron that I've seen before, exactly in the same place in front of the Brewhouse. It didn't hunt this time, just cowered in the wind and cold with another nearby

Three new Heron photos from Tuesday, and not much of an improvement in the light. At least the noisy lorry hadn't returned for a second day

It did a lot of standing about, I think it was assessing whether I was a threat as it had wandered closer than I expected. I was "hiding" behind my scope and tripod which i hoped was breaking up my image
