Iceland Gull adult, Arbroath (2022)

Tuesdays finds in reverse order, starting with an Iceland Gull at Victoria Park, Arbroath, some Wigeon at Murton, and my first site of the day Forfar Loch.

Adult Iceland Gull seen briefly at Victoria Park, Arbroath on Tuesday. It was feeding with the Black-headed Gulls on the tide line at high tide before being mildly spooked by two large dogs and someone shouting. It slowly drifted offshore and north, and was lost to view towards Whiting Ness

It looks like a different bird in this shot as it was resting, the photos above were taken when it was picking small items from the surface as the waves churned the beach

A really dirty looking young Herring Gull

This adult Herring Gull allowed me to walk past at no more than 2 metres from it, they are used to people walking and are always looking for food being thrown out of cars! (the same people will moan about them stealing ice cream in summer)

Yes, it is a Pink-footed Goose on the pavement at Victoria Park. If you look carefully under the bird you can see it's breastbone showing, it looks to be starving. Ian Currie and I guided it along to the ramp near Whiting Ness to keep it safe from the many free-running dogs, I think it's days are numbered

Jackdaws, Crows, Pied Wagtails and many Rock Pipit feed on the beach, and when the tide is in they just move to the parkland

Turnstones are a fixture in winter at the park along with a few Redshanks, sometimes a few Dunlin, and we used to see Ringed Plover before Covid. There is so much disturbance the Ringed Plovers have abandoned the beach at high tide, in fact it's a while since I've seen any at all states of the tide

A brief look at Murton NR and the water levels were down quite a bit, it's now more suitable for dabbling ducks, so perhaps the Teal numbers will rise and even include a Green-winged!

On a very windy visit to Forfar Loch and a harsh sun shining, I spent some time at the viewing platform waiting for an Otter to appear, it didn't but there was a constant chatter around the feeders someone maintains there

There were many Tufted Ducks at the west end of the loch, these were in the shelter of the small bay near the sailing club

Woodpigeons are happy to sit and pose

The first Snowdrops I've seen this year, these were at the "Witches" stone (Just people)
