Red-necked Grebe, Spotted Redshank and Common Terns

Be advised the grebe was distant, the stills are video screen grabs as is the photo of the Spotted Redshank, the videos are better, photos will be better if the weather behaves...

I haven't seen our really looked for terns so far this year, news of failed breeding and birds dying of avian flu may have discouraged me. Anyway, I make no excuse for publishing too many photos of Common Terns on moored boats near the Sailing Club at Rossie Island, Montrose Basin. Probably around 50 birds perhaps equal numbers of adults to juveniles, they kept moving around.

Below the terns are a single video screen grab of a Spotted Redshank at the Lurgies, and 2 more of a Red-necked Grebe from a very distant video in poor light. Red-necked Grebe videos are from past years.

Definitely a grebe, smaller than ducks further behind it, has a yellow bill. I couldn't make it anything else other than a Red-necked Grebe.  And like a previous one I saw some years ago it looks to have moved on after a brief visit
