Mandarins in Perth and Jupiter!

A brief trip in Perth while waiting for Olive, so I thought I'd look for four Mandarins on Gannochy Pond, reported by Ian Laird earlier in the week. I couldn't see them to start with as they were hiding under a pontoon like structure, but one eventually appeared and I ended up seeing three of them.

Vixen in my garden again. click here      Jupiter and Moons

A Mandarin drake on Gannochy Pond in Perth, not far uphill from the west bridge over the Tay. I'm assuming this one, another drake, and two females are the Almondbank birds

Also the second Drake in the background, and one of the ducks in the left corner

This one briefly moved out into some light, then went back under the wooden structure they were sheltering in, probably to get out of the wind and rain

A Swedish Blue domestic duck, this one is a drake I believe

Jupiter and its four largest Moons from an upstairs window. No scope involved, just a Nikon P1000 at 1000mm set on manual with a 1 second shutter
