Turnstone eating a Minke Whale!

Some of the birds from my Webs count at East Haven on Saturday, I can't mange Sunday which is the preferred day. Seen but not photographed, a Little Egret, Wigeon, Teal and many more species I expected to find along the beach and on the sea.

A Turnstone eating a Minke Whale, the one at Craigmill beach which was left in place for the birds to feed on. Up until now, none of the large gulls have been able to break into the carcass, the Turnstones seem to have got through the top layer of the skin, as seen on the right of the Turnstone

Some of a flock of 58 Dunlin with two Purple Sandpipers which seemed to get spooked when a train sped past with the horn blaring out

A Grey Plover at around half tide, at high tide 6 were seen together

Three Purple Sandpipers in the centre, 3 others weren't far away

Just 3 Ringed Plovers counted today, which I believe is the same as last month

Sanderling, only a maximum of 11 seen today

Two Goldeneye from a small group of 6, they flew straight through and may have landed on the water at the edge of the Webs count boundary

Two female Stonechats seen, but no males, previously two males were there, perhaps they still are

This Eider Drake wasn't able to get to its feet and looked lethargic. It was reported to the SSPCA, hopefully it can be rehabilitated
