Mediterranean Gull at Arbroath, Red Admiral near Montrose

Arbroath West Links, Keptie Pond, Wigeon Hide, Murton NR and East Haven. Descriptions and info below the photos, only one video today.

Only one Bar-tailed Godwit was left at East Haven on my Webs

A Mediterranean Gull adult found by Lainey at West Links, Arbroath. It was feeding at high tide on the edge of the rock armour with about 120 Black-headed Gulls

Med Gull (left) with a Black-headed Gull for ID comparison

A few Redshanks were sitting out the high tide and around 12 Turnstones flew in as I left

A drake Wigeon still moulting from eclipse plumage at Keptie Pond, where a Pochard drake was present but hidden when I was there

Further down the track at Mains of Dun this Yellowhammer and some Blackbirds were feeding on berries, but no Redwings or Fieldfares they'd probably moved inland

A Curlew landing on the edge of the salt marsh at high tide. There were 16 Twite on the marsh, they had flown from the trees at the Wigeon Hide

Pheasant cock near the hide, and more dotted about the fields, they have been reared and now released to be shot

A Red Admiral Butterfly making the most of what must be its last chance to feed, especially since the weather has turned much colder. It was feeding on the Ivy at the start of the path at Mains of Dun which leads to the bird hides

A number of Common Wasps were also feeding on the Ivy and investigating crevices in the bark of a tree where they might spend the winter

A Tapered Drone Fly, there were at least 15 on the Ivy

I didn't pick up this Red Kite from the Gladson Hide at Murton until it had gone past, a drawback of narrow windows in hides obscuring anything above

A Roe Deer buck seen from the Stewart Hide at Murton, it was sitting in the sun about 120 metres along the north bank of Buddies Loch
