Pochard drake, Keptie Pond, Arbroath

A rare and welcome visitor to Angus, let alone Keptie Pond in Arbroath, a drake Pochard. It was confined to a small area adjacent to the bank at the Keptie Road end due to slowly melting ice on 18/11/2024. It's likely the many ducks will keep the area free of ice, but the Pochard may move to a bigger water body like Monikie where another drake was seen this week.
