Tree Bumblebee, Frogs, Great Crested Grebe - Springtime

The heat of the past few days has brought out various insects, birds returning to breeding sites, and my earliest recorded Frog spawn.

There were just a few Ducks, Coots, Moorhens, and calling Little Grebes on Forfar Loch.

A small number of Lapwings were at Murton, also Oystercatchers, Gadwall, Teal and Wigeon.

Six of perhaps 15 Frogs in my pond, click here

Tree Bumblebee Queen in my front garden, I hope she fairs better than last year when a long cold spell caused nest failure

Frogs returned to my pond on 8/3/2025, that date is the earliest I've seen them return, previous dates were 13th, 15th, 18th, and 19th

This I think is a Tapered Drone Fly eristalis pertinax, but it could be a Common Drone Fly eristalis tenax

Wolf Spider species, lots of them in my heather and front garden
