Photos from a few short visits recently, I've injured my back and am not risking any big or distant trips. "Aye, age disnae com itsel!
Starting with a Linnet at St Cyrus where I heard a Peregrine but couldn't find it. Then the garden, there's time in between football matches for quick photos. Lastly, some from East Haven taken during my Webs count last weekend.
Video with a Cock Linnet, click here and for me, an Old Man video, click here
Male Linnet at St Cyrus
Fulmar, St Cyrus
Greenfinch in the Starling's bath
One of four pairs of House Martins close to my garden. The usual nest on my neighbour's fell down in spring and no birds have re-built it yet. The other nest on Olive's gable has been re-built but isn't as accessible unless I almost stand in the street, I might!
Still lots of Starling activity
There have been more than this in the bath at one time
I'm still getting at least three Yellowhammers
This Blue Tit must be feeding a brood and I think it's beginning to affect its condition
The inland version of a Redshank, meaning they flush at the slightest noise, movement or for no reason, and scare everything else into cover
Disappointing so far when it comes to juvenile Greenfinches, only three confirmed as now but still four adult males
Female Sparrowhawk, probably paired with the male I've seen lately, freshly moulted and looking lean. It isn't the biggest female I've seen in the garden but no doubt it will bulk up once the young have dispersed. I flushed it from a Cotoneaster where a Starling was alarm calling, it sounded like it had been caught but the hawk didn't leave with it
Lupin, taken as a test shot for the light
Black-headed Gull photographed on my Webs count
Black-headed and Common Gulls
Common Gulls, 2cy birds
Rooks and a Crow, taken for comparison between the two species, and the two Rooks
