Western Cattle Egret (in Angus)

Not a bird we see often in Scotland and today we had at least two, one near Friockheim and the other at Kingussie for another day. It took a lot of watching and patience before it was located having flown away from where Mark Caunt found it to a second field out of sight. Forunately the Egret flew back to the area it was first seen, where it could be viewed from inside my car, carefully parked at the roadside. Viewing from a car will stop the birds being flushed, please don't chase it off!

No apologies for posting four videos and five photos, it's not a bird I've seen before and probably won't see again for some time.

Western Cattle Egret near Boysack. Please only view from your car at the roadside, the bird will be flushed by farm workers without adding to it

It seemed to be getting heat from the corrigated iron and Graham said it appeared to "snuggle" against a pig

The pigs didn't mind its presence even when it stood on their backs
