East Haven beach birds

A short walk and a lot of time sitting on rocks while observing waders, ducks and gulls at East Haven and Hatton. At a first look I didn't think there was much there, but finding the right pool and sitting still, I found more birds and species, and as my back was to the wind and light it wasn't cold, and I wasn't bothered by dogs on the beach, well just one.....

Some other photos from Keptie tagged on at the bottom.

No videos as I left the P1000 at home.

Bar-tailed Godwits to the north of East Haven towards Hatton

Curlew

Ringed Plover, numbers increasing slowly

Dunlin, around 30 birds over a few pools

A crop of what may have been the full flock of Dunlin

Grey Wagtail, this bird has been around most of the winter and is never far from fresh water

Incoming Wigeon

Three pairs of Teal were in a short section of ditch at the coastal path

Great black-backed Gull, they make themselves known with an aggressive sounding call. A pair became very threatening to me while doing a Corn Bunting survey when I may have been close to a nest

Another one from the ditch at East Haven where again there was no sign of the Siberian Chiffchaff

Is this Little Grebe at Keptie Pond one of the pair I saw the day before at the harbour? I had a photo of the female but appear to have deleted it!

If you are prepared to stand still near cover long enough a Goosander will swin past, or if like me you get startled when this one appeared at my feet

I'm not sure about Wigeon moults, is this a young bird catching up or one taking a long time to complete the change (might look it up if I have time)

The Coots are getting more aggressive so I might try for some fight photos when the sun is out in the middle of the day

Moorhen, quite good numbers which I think will diminish as some move away to breed

Tufted drake

The "nearly man", nearly a Pintail drake but with a Mallard neck and breast. If it was a dog like a Cavapoo it would be special and worth money, or maybe just a mongrel/hybrid
