Lurgies, Montrose Basin

Two separate visits to the Lurgies at Montrose Basin, and starting with some of the insects in Olive's garden where I was supposed to be cutting the grass. Some of the bees were identified by the ObsIdentify app, then checked in my insect book.

Little Egret, click here for video      Greenshank, Montrose Basin

Tree Bumblebee, but will she stay around without the lure of the Cotoneaster which I have almost killed!

Red Mason Bee, the book says "sporadic in Scotland"

Peacock Butterfly

Garden Cross Spider, this was a tiny spider and the photo was taken to test whether I could get something using my 500mm lens with the subject on it's web

Buffish Mining Bee

This Little Egret flew up from the edge of the South Esk, I saw a brief flash of its wing as I sat on one of the concrete benches, and it didn't know I was there. Unfortunately for me I was spotted as I stood up

One of Saturday's Little Egrets which was just in front of the Old Harbour

This one and the other below were both seen on Friday and distant

Greenshank, a distant still of the bird in the video above, photographed on Saturday

This photo caught the end of a brief fight for the best fishing spot

A male Ruff moulting into its breeding plumage, seen on Friday but not on Saturday

Great Tit

Mute Swan, meticulously bathing and preening

Male Goosander

And finally, a Tree Sparrow in my front garden as I was having breakfast on Friday morning, photographed through a small opening in the vertical blinds
