On a windy Thursday morning I had some time to waste while Olive was shopping, so I had a look around the harbour area in Arbroath as the tide was rising. The highlight was seeing a Grey Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtails and a Rock Pipit all catching flies beside the "blue toilets" which is now a coffee shop and more. (I must have a proper look!) The shelter of the walls on both sides of the burn seemed to have attracted lots of flies, later in the season Swallows often hunt there too.
Grey Wagtail on the Brothock Burn between E&O Fish and Danger Point where the burn reaches the beach. Last seen catching flies on the burn at the boat yard
Magpie, in the same place as above, and the first one I've seen around the harbour area
Just one Ringed Plover at Victoria Park, Arbroath, and not much else in windy conditions
A mix of individual Jackdaws and pairs were feeding on the short grass
Not many Herring Gulls now, mostly young birds and a few non-breeding adults
A different Herring Gull
