Waders from my Webs count, and farm survey

Photos from my Webs count at East Haven on Sunday and following them, some from one of my Corn Bunting farms.

On the Webs two Grey Plovers seemed unusual and when I checked previous years the latest date I could find for them as April 21st.

Nothing of note from the farm, and no Corn Buntings but it was dull and late afternoon.

Waders from my Webs feeding on the tide line

Dunlin and Sanderling flying into the beach

They were feeding surprisingly high up the beach

Ringed Plovers with a single Dunlin

Ringed Plovers and Dunlin

Sanderling in moult with a bit to go

Another Sanderling, it was hard to find two at the same stage

Turnstones in breeding colours

Turnstones

There were 16 young or non-breeding Curlews

I had a long look for a Med Gull or Little Gull and this was the best I could find, a Lesser black-backed Gull

Quite a few Common Gulls, all 2nd year birds

I was taking a video and the large flock of waders suddenly flew off, and then I realised why, this Great black-backed Gull had spooked them

I took this photo of a Rook to help Olive tell the difference between Rooks and Crows. It became redundant when we had 4 Rooks, a Crow and 2 Jackdaws come into the garden when I put out some fat balls for the Starling youngsters, surely to arrive very soon

On a pre-survey of one of my Corn Bunting farms to find out which crops were planted, so I took a camera and photographed a few of the birds around, including some Swallows

Sedge Warbler in a bush at Auchmithie, I wish I'd taken the P1000 as it was close and singing loudly

Olive reckons the Greenfinches in the garden all look grumpy like me.....harsh

This Starling appeared to be calling in a young one but none arrived, maybe tomorrow?
