Photos taken while carrying out my monthly Webs count at East Haven, then at Keptie Pond in Arbroath. I was driving past the pond to avoid the 77 weeks of road works in the centre of Arbroath. It's a vanity project by Arbroath/Angus Council.
Apparently it's an improvement to change a busy dual-carriageway to two single lanes and provide flower beds, people can then sit and enjoy the vehicle emissions, caused by the traffic congestion.
(the first rant for a long time, but warranted)
Whimbrels at East Haven
Note the crown patterns
Ringed Plovers and 5 Dunlin
There was a second flock, they'd split when flushed by a walker
A Turnstone with these Ringed Plovers
Ringed Plover
Turnstones in summer plumage
Lesser black-backed Gull
Drake Eiders, no females seen, they'll hopefully be nesting successfully. As with most ducks, once the males/drakes have mated they leave the females/ducks to bring up the next generation
Carrion Crow, comparison with Rook below

Grey Heron fishing at Keptie Pond, Arbroath
with one of the introduced Perch
The unfortunate Perch has raised it's spiky dorsal fill, to no avail
Two near to fledging chicks still on their island nest
Another introduction, a Softshell Turtle, the bubbles are coming from its long nose
The turtle again with one of the Carp in the foreground, I didn't see it but the camera picked it up
Coot chick
Jackdaw
The hybrid Pintail/Mallard drake is still in the pond, note the green showing on its head and the orange neck and breast
